The legal community of Azerbaijan suffered a heavy loss.

Judge of the Constitutional Court, Honored lawyer Mahir Muradov died on January 5 at the age of 66.

Mahir Muradov was born on July 25, 1956. In 1982 he graduated from the Law faculty of Azerbaijan State University. He began his career in 1973. From 1973 to 1979 he worked at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan. From 1979 to 1983 he worked at the “Caspianoilgasfleet” Department on various positions. From 1983 to 2012 he worked as a trainee, senior investigator, prosecutor of department and prosecutor in the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. From 2004 to 2012 he worked as a prosecutor of Nizami district of Baku city.

On October 16, 2012 upon presentation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and on the basis of the decision of Milli Majlis (Parliament) he was appointed to the post of Judge of Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of July 20, 2016 he was granted the honorary title “Honoured Lawyer” for his longstanding activity within the Prosecutor’s Office and Judiciary of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

By Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of May 27, 2019 he was awarded with the jubilee medal “100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-2018)”.

Mahir Muradov will remain in the memory of colleagues and friends, as a wonderful person with a high culture and an experienced lawyer.

The senior executives of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, judges and staff of the Administrative Office express their sorrow in connection with the death of Mahir Muradov and extend their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
