Delegation of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan headed by Chairman Farhad Abdullayev upon invitation of the President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe performing functions of the Secretariat of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice and President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania took part at the IV Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice.

The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan is a full member of World Conference since 2009. The Congresses of the Organization in membership of which consist the constitutional courts of 111 countries held every three years. Functions of the Secretariat are exercised by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.

The President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, the leaders of Parliament and Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe Gianni Buchicchio, chairpersons and judges of constitutional courts of 111 countries participated at opening of the Congress.

Having greeted participants of event the President of the Republic of Lithuania has noted importance of judicial and legal co-operation between the constitutional courts, has highlighted the legal and political aspects observed in the modern world.

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev presiding the “New challenges to the rule of law” session has informed on the measures taken in our country in the sphere of rule of law. In the reports and a debates on reports that have sounded at a session importance of activity of the constitutional courts in maintaining of legal stability in interstate system in the modern world was noted.

In the conclusion, the Communique of the IV Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice was adopted. In the document have found reflection a role of the constitutional justice in ensuring the rule of law, importance of protection of the constitutional principles, a role of the constitutional courts in protection of human rights and freedoms and other legal issues.

According to the decision the next - V Congress will take place in the Algerian People"s Democratic Republic.

Within the visit of Farhad Abdullayev have held meetings with chairpersons and judges of many countries which are taking part in the Congress, exchange of opinions on jurisprudence has taken place.
