On April 24-27, 2017 by the invitation of Mr. Zuhtu Arslan, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Chairman Farhad Abdullayev visited the fraternal country and participate in official events held in Ankara in connection with the 55th Anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Turkey.

At the opening ceremony of the international symposium on "The Constitutional Courts as Defenders of Fundamental Rights" participated the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the Chairperson of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Ismail Kahraman, heads of judicial and law enforcement bodies of the fraternal country. The delegations of the constitutional courts of a number of countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America participated at this representative event as foreign guests.

The significant resolutions, adopted during the 55-year period of the work of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, were reviewed at the official opening of the event. The detailed speeches on the role of the Court in the development of legislation, as well as litigation and legal practice were made.

The delegations of constitutional courts, which participated in the conference, made reports concerning relation of the constitutional courts in the countries they represent with the executive, legislative and other judicial bodies in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.

Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a speech concerning cooperation with other high state bodies within the court's activities, touched upon some aspects of the decisions directed to protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, fixed in the Constitution.

Within a framework of visit were held bilateral meetings with the President and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey. An exchange of views took place on the decisions adopted in recent years by the constitutional courts of two countries.

The delegation of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ankara, and met with Ambassador Faig Baghirov.

On April 28, by the invitation of the Vesna Ilić Prelić, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia the delegation headed by Farhad Abdullayev visited Belgrade.

At the meetings held during the visit with the President, judges and the head od secretariat of the Constitutional Court have been discussed the methods and procedures of the appeals of citizens to the Constitutional Court, the issues of implementation of decisions of the Constitutional Court, practical application of rules of international law, and also the judicial and legal practice connected with such principle of international law as territorial integrity.

The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the President and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia visited the monument of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, installed in a park in the center of Belgrade, and laid a wreath at the monument.
