Chairman of the Constitutional Court took part in the International Congress

The delegation headed by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev, at the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, Zühtü Arslan, was on a working visit to Istanbul to participate in the Congress of constitutional review bodies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

President of the Republic of Türkiye Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made an opening speech at the congress held in Dolmabagcha Palace.

The first session of the event focused on the role of higher courts in the protection of fundamental rights, and the second session on various models of constitutional control in Islamic countries.

Speaking at the Congress, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev spoke about ensuring human rights and freedoms in our country through constitutional justice, stressed the importance of judicial and legal cooperation between Islamic countries.

During the Congress, the Statute prepared by the Working Committee was adopted.

In the Istanbul Declaration adopted in conclusion, in order to ensure the rule of law and protect human rights, an agreement was reached on the creation of a new institution by exchanging experience and information between the constitutional courts and calling it the "Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Islamic World."

A meeting of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (TÜRK-AY) was also held.

Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings were held with the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, judges and the leadership of the Administrative Office, an exchange of views was held on legal issues related to judicial practice and mutual judicial and legal cooperation.

The events were also attended by the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul Narmina Mustafayeva.
