Winners of the legal Olympiad "Bases of the law-based state" held by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and dedicated to the Constitution Day – on November 12, among students of higher education institutions, colleges and pupils of high schools of the Shaki, Gakh, Zakatala and Belakan districts are awarded.

The ceremony of award of winners of the Olympiad took place in Heydar Aliyev"s Center of Zakatala city.

At the event participates employees of Staff of the Constitutional Court, the leaders of the area, teaching, student"s and school staff of the highest and average educational institutions.

Mubariz Akhmedzade, chief executive of the Zakatala Region, who made a speech at an event said that the first national Constitution adopted 23 years ago by national vote is important for formation and development of our statehood. It was noted that during the period after adoption of the first national Constitution, the human rights and freedoms were completely approved, great success in creation of the democratic and law-based state is achieved, important acts are adopted.

The chief executive expressed gratitude to the presidence and the staff of the Constitutional Court for the organization of the legal Olympiad in Zakatala district.

On an event the head of legal department of executive power of the region Eldar Mustafayev made the report on the subject "Bases of the law-based state". It was specified that the new Constitution of Azerbaijan is the perfect normative-legal document meeting the international legal standards giving the wide place to the human rights and freedoms and serving for strengthening of our statehood.

The head of Constitutional law department of the Staff of the Constitutional Court Durdana Mamedova read the address of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farkhad Abdullaev to participants of the Olympiad.

It was specified that the first Constitution of our independent state was adopted on November 12, 1995, by national vote – a referendum. Adoption of the first national Constitution which author is the National leader Heydar Aliyev – not only the most important event of our modern history, but also one of many irreplaceable merits of the Great Leader before the Azerbaijani statehood.

It was noted that after Orders of the President Ilham Aliyev "On the national plan of actions for protection of human rights in the Republic of Azerbaijan" of December 28, 2006 and "On the approval of the National Action Programme on increase in efficiency of protection of the human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan" of December 27, 2011, the organization of traditionally held legal Olympiad among school and university students of the highest and average educational institutions took even more detailed and substantial form.

Thanks to the policy pursued under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev who is successfully continuing a political policy of the National Leader, progress and power of the Azerbaijani state were increased, the possibility of creation of highly competitive economy was presented, the country became the leading state of the region and the reliable partner on a global scale. All reforms undertaken in the country, both political and economic, and legal, pursue the aim of ensuring the rule of law, the rights and fundamental freedoms of the person and citizen which are one of the important tasks facing the Azerbaijani state.

Durdana Mamedova who announced results of the legal Olympiad specified that this year at the Olympiad participated the students of two university branches operating in Shaki and Zakatala, 3 colleges and school students of high school in total from 28 high schools (on 7 from each area - Shaki, Gakh, Zakatala and Belakana). At the Olympiad, 50 questions connected with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan were provided to participants. Each correct answer was estimated at 2 points. In university branches the Olympiad were held among faculties, both higher educational institutions separately.

According to results of the Olympiad, among colleges students of Zakatala College of Public Administration and Technology took the 1st place, and students of Shaki State Regional and Shaki State Technical Colleges of 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

In a competition among secondary educational institutions between areas, participants drom the schools of Belakan district who gained the highest results won a rank of winners of the legal Olympiad. The subsequent places were taken by pupils of schools of Zakatala and Gakh districts. In the competitions which were taking place in each area separately the representatives of Humanitarian and technical lyceum of Belakan district, the Gymnasium of humanitarian subjects of Zakatala district, high school of the village of Almala of Gakh district and the Shaki city high school No. 10 are awarded the first places.
