2018-10-12 Delegates of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex

Within the framework of the plan of activities based on the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev “On commemoration of 100th anniversary of 1918 genocide of Azerbaijanis” of January 18, 2018, during the mission to Guba on October 12, 2018, members of the staff of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited a monument erected on burial place of victims of genocide, that was committed against Azerbaijani people by criminal Armenian armed groups 100 years ago, on March- April 1918.

At the beginning of the mission in Guba, members of the delegation visited a monument of the nationwide leader, the architect and builder of our modern sovereign state, the author of our first national Constitution, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers and honoured the memory of the Great Leader.

Later, by visiting the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, that was erected in memory of tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis perished as a result of massacres committed in 1918 by Armenian-Bolshevik armed groups, they honoured the memory of the victims of the genocide and laid flowers at the monument.

A clear information on that the Azerbaijani people four times were undergone genocide in the Caucasus region by Armenians in the XX century, and that the act of massacre and genocide of Azerbaijani people in March 1918 considers as one of the bloodiest pages in the world history, was given to the delegate of the Constitutional Court, based on historical facts where the genocide against Azerbaijani people in the Caucasus region was committed for centuries by Armenians.

It was brought to the attention, that the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex was opened on September 18, 2013, by the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Photos with different views of the Guba city at the beginning of the XX century, renovation work of that time, the lifestyle of inhabitants, are presented at the Complex. The information in different languages about acts of genocide, committed by Armenians against our nation in various parts of our Republic in the last century, are given on a specific map displayed on the touch screen monitor.

Also it was underlined, that the mass grave of the victims of the genocide was discovered during excavation work on April 1, 2007. Then the staff of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan conducted a study of mass graves. As a result of the research was established that the burial had connected with the genocide committed against the local civilians in 1918 by Armenians.

At the end of the event with the participation of representatives of the Executive Power of the Guba region, heartfelt words were recorded in the commemorative book of the Complex by the authorities and the staff of the Constitutional Court.
