Representatives of the European Law Students Association (ELSA) in Azerbaijan meet with the judges of the Constitutional Court.
The judge of Constitutional Court, Mr. Jeyhun Garajayev has informed the law students about the current mechanism, development, and modern tendency of European Convention on Human Rights. He noted that, intervention to the rights protected by European Convention on Human Rights.
According to the Jeyhun Garajayev, security and protection of human rights is supreme value in Azerbaijan, and the activity of Constitutional Court is very important in this area.
Presenting in the topic of “The basic standards of a fair trial”, the judge of Constitutional Court Mr. Kamran Shafiyev pointed that, 5 th Article( Right to liberty and security), 6th Article (Fair trial), and 7th Article (No punishment without the law) of European Convention’s requirements have been implemented in the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the meeting, the president of ELSA Azerbaijan, Mr. Kamal Jafarov has informed the judges about the activity and future plans of organization.
There have been exchanges of ideas about the development perspectives of joint cooperation in the meeting, and the questions that interesting for the youth have been answered.
