On October 20 Chairman of Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev has met PACE Special Committee`s pre-election mission on observation of the November 7 parliamentary elections in the country.

Abdullayev briefed the delegation on the workings of the Constitutional Court and ongoing legal and judicial reforms in Azerbaijan. 

He said legal and judicial reforms started to be carried out in Azerbaijan after national leader Heydar Aliyev returned to power. 

He noted the Council of Europe assists Azerbaijan in developing democratic institutions. 

Abdullayev pointed out Azerbaijan was interested in conducting the November 7 elections in democratic and fair manner. 

The Chairman also spoke of the Constitutional Court`s tasks on the elections being held in Azerbaijan. He expressed belief the PACE observers will demonstrate an unbiased stance on the November 7 elections as previous ones.

Head of the mission Paul Wille praised what had been done in Azerbaijan to improve the electoral system. He also hailed the conditions created for international missions to monitor the elections. Wille vowed his mission would demonstrate an unbiased stance on the elections.
