On January 13 Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev has met visiting director of the German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation Matthias Weckerling.
Abdullayev briefed Weckerling on the workings of the Constitutional Court and ongoing legal reforms in the country.
He underlined legal laws in Azerbaijan meet international standards.
Abdullayev noted the Constitutional Court attaches special importance to expanding its international relations.
He pointed out the Court, as a member of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts, puts special emphasis on exchanging experience and developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
He added a working visit by the Court`s staff to Germany in 2007 was a favorable opportunity to get acquainted with the country`s best practices in the field.
Matthias Weckerling, in his turn, said he witnessed rapid development process in Azerbaijan.
He particularly praised the accomplishments of the Constitutional Court. Weckerling stressed the Foundation was interested in boosting cooperation with the Court.
Weckerling became familiar with the conditions created for judges in the Court.
