On June 17, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court,
Farhad Abdullayev, received a delegation led by Hadi bin Ali
Alyami , Executive Director of
the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Welcoming the guests, Chairman Farhad Abdullayev
provided detailed information about the consistent reforms being implemented in
the country to protect human rights and freedoms, ensure the rule of law, and
strengthen democratic institutions. He also stressed the importance of co-operation
with the constitutional courts of many countries in the framework of the
Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Islamic World, which is a
member of the OIC.
Then the chairman spoke about the activities of the
Constitutional Court in the field of human rights protection, the work done
towards the development of constitutional justice. He also emphasized the
effective co-operation between the Constitutional Court and the Commissioner
for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in ensuring constitutional rights.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Hadi
bin Ali Alyami highly appreciated
Azerbaijan's achievements in the field of human rights protection, legal state
building and improvement of the judicial and legal system. Noting the
importance of international co-operation in the field of the promotion and
protection of human rights, he highlighted the necessity of exchanging
experience and expanding mutual engagement in this area.
The parties held broad discussions on the protection of human rights, legal education, modern challenges of international law and the prospects for further co-operation, expressed confidence in the further development of co-operation.
