On September 30, a meeting was held at the
Constitutional Court with a delegation led by Fahrettin Altun, Chairman of the
Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TIHEK), who was visiting our country.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman Farhad Abdullayev
provided detailed information about the activities of the Court and stated that
Azerbaijan- Türkiye relations are based on the thesis of "One
nation, two states", as stated by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The Chairman emphasized that the unshakable relations
between the two brotherly countries are constantly developing as a result of
the successful policies implemented by the President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The strategic cooperation of
our states, which have great geopolitical and economic potential, is aimed at
ensuring peace and security in the region and further strengthening the
development of judicial and legal cooperation in all areas.
It was noted that the presence of brotherly Türkiye, which supported our state at the most important
moments in history, during the Second Karabakh War and during local
anti-terrorist measures aimed at restoring the constitutional structure of
Azerbaijan, is always highly appreciated by our people. Today, the legal force
of the Basic Law has been fully restored in our sovereign republic, and the
liberation of our occupied territories is also a guarantee of the protection of
citizens' rights enshrined in the constitution.
Then, the Chairman of the Human Rights and Equality
Institution of Türkiye, Fahrettin Altun, expressed his gratitude to the
Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Farhad Abdullayev, for the great
hospitality. He said that close cooperation between our countries in the
judicial and legal field, as in all areas, will develop successfully on the
basis of mutual support and understanding.
During the conversation, a broad exchange of views was
held, and the protection of human rights and freedoms and other legal issues
were discussed.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Human
Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, judges of the
Constitutional Court and responsible employees of the Office.
At the end of the event, the guests got acquainted with the building of the Constitutional Court and took commemorative photos.
