Chairman of the Constitutional Court participated in an international conference in Istanbul

The delegation headed by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farhad Abdullayev, visited Istanbul to participate in the international conference.

The international conference was held on the topic "Migration and human rights in the light of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of Turkey". The conference was attended by the chairman and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, judges of the European Court of Human Rights, heads and representatives of constitutional courts of several European states, state bodies of Turkey.

In the practical part of the conference, reports on migration and on the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the case law of the Constitutional Court on deportation issues, the protection of migrant children within the framework of the European Convention, as well as other topics were heard and discussed.

At the event, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Farhad Abdullayev, made a speech and brought to the attention of the participants the problem of refugees and internally displaced persons, which our republic has been facing for more than 30 years. He emphasized that as a result of the historical Victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War, the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was fully restored, and thus a number of violated constitutional rights of those persons were restored.

F.Abdullayev said that global climate changes are one of the biggest problems facing our planet, and informed the event participants that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November of this year.

Within the framework of the visit, views were exchanged with the chairman and judges of the Constitutional Court of Turkey in the field of judicial law.
