On February 24-25, 2021 Chairman of the Constitutional
Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev took part in a meeting of
the Circle of Presidents of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts and
in the XVIII Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts that
was held online format under the chairmanship of the Constitutional Court of
the Czech Republic.
At the meeting of the Circle of Presidents the memorandum between the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) and the Conference of European Constitutional Courts was signed, the Constitutional Court, which will preside over the organization was defined, other issues were discussed.
President of the Venice Commission of the Council of
Europe Gianni Buquicchio, President of the Constitutional Court of the Czech
Republic Pavel Rychetský, Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the
Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Mami and President of the Constitutional Tribunal
of the Republic of Angola Manuel Aragão delivered opening speeches.
In the practical part of the Congress, were heard reports
on human rights enshrined in national legislation and reflected in the
international law, protection of a number of rights by constitutional courts
and other issues related to constitutional justice.
According to the
decision made at the end of the event, the Constitutional Court of the Republic
of Moldova will preside over the Conference of European Constitutional Courts
for the next three years.
