On May 28-31 by the invitation of the Chairman of the
Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Peter Mikhelashvich the
delegation headed by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic
of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev visited Minsk to take part in the international
conference devoted to 25th anniversary of the Constitutional Court
of the Republic of Belarus.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of the
Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus Valeriy Mitskevich read
the greeting letter of the President Alexander Lukashenko.
Then the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the
Republic of Belarus Peter Miklashevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Venice
Commission of the Council of Europe H.Kyerulf-Torgeyrsdottir, Chairman of the
Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kayrat Mami, Chairman of
the Eurasian Economic Community Court Jolimbet Baishev on behalf of the
"New Democracy Conference of the Constitutional Control Bodies" made
an opening speeches.
During the conference there were discussions on the
development of constitutional control, decisions of the Constitutional Court as
a legal source, new approaches to the administration of constitutional justice,
methods of appealing to the Constitutional Court and other legal issues.
Chairman Farhad Abdullayev made a speech at the
conference on “Realizing the principle of legal certainty through the
implementation of the constitutional justice”.
During the visit, President of Belarus Alexander
Lukashenko met the heads of delegations at his residence. During the reception,
the President of the Republic of Belarus touched legal reforms in the country,
ensuring the constitutional supremacy, as well as the protection of citizens'
rights enshrined in the Constitution, and emphasized the importance of
expanding international judicial and legal cooperation between the
constitutional courts.
Within the framework
of the visit, meetings with the chairpersons of constitutional courts of
several countries were held and legal issues were discussed.
