On October 3, a meeting was held at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the delegation headed by the Prof. Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC IPHRC).

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Farhad Abdullayev, provided information about the activities of the institution he leads. It was noted that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan cooperates with the constitutional courts of many countries within the framework of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Islamic World, which is part of the OIC.

Referring to the 44-day Patriotic War, it was emphasized that under the leadership of President and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the legal force of the Azerbaijani Constitution has been restored in the territories liberated from occupation.

The Executive Director of the OIC IPHRC, Prof. Noura bint Zaid Al-Rashoud noted that the purpose of the visit is to participate in the International Baku Forum initiated by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as to establish international relations and determine the directions of cooperation.

The Chairman emphasized the effective cooperation between the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in the field of ensuring constitutional rights.

Farhad Abdullayev highly appreciated the report drawn up on September 23-25, 2021, on the implementation of the fact-finding mission of the delegation of the OIC IPHRC visiting the historical and ancient lands of Azerbaijan, liberated from occupation.

A wide exchange of views between the parties took place, issues of international legal cooperation were touched upon.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Saqlain Javed, Deputy Executive Director at the OIC, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court, responsible employees of the Staff and the Head of the Staff of the Ombudsman.
