On March 29, a meeting with candidates for judges was
held at the Constitutional Court.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Constitutional
Court Farhad Abdullayev noted that the first national Constitution of
Azerbaijan, drafted under the leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and
adopted at a national referendum in 1995, determined the main priorities of the
legal development of our country, emphasizing the role of the Basic Law in the
formation of a state governed by the rule of law.
It was noted that the main goal of the judicial
reform, carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, is to ensure the rule of law in our country
through the improvement of the judicial system. It was emphasized that the main
goal of the policy of personnel reforms and “rejuvenation” of the judicial system
pursued by the head of state is aimed at ensuring the adoption of fair and
justified decisions as a result of the efficient activities of the courts.
The chairman said that increasing the public's trust
in judges directly depends on their activities. He also brought to the
attention of young lawyers his recommendations on unwavering adherence to
justice, legality, impartiality, honesty and other principles of justice. The
importance of a unified judicial practice and consistent activities in this
direction was especially emphasized.
Then the young lawyers were given detailed information
about the activities of the Constitutional Court, as well as a number of issues
related to the legal positions and approaches reflected in the adopted decisions.
The meeting was attended by the Judges of the
Constitutional Court, the Secretary General and senior officials.
