On January 27, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of
the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev was on a working visit to
Strasbourg, France to participate in an international judicial seminar
organized by the European Court of Human Rights on the topic "Judges
preserving democracy through the protection of human rights". The President of the European Court
of Human Rights Síofra O’Leary, spoke at ceremony to mark the official opening
of the judicial year 2023.
In the practical part of the seminar, the reports of
judges of courts of several European countries on freedom of speech and
democracy, the right to free elections, the independence and impartiality of
judges and other legal issues were heard.
After the judicial seminar,
a solemn meeting was held in connection with the opening of the judicial year
2023 of the European Court of Human Rights for 2023.
