On September 27, responsible employees of the Administrative Office of the Constitutional Court visited the graves of the martyrs of the Patriotic War in the Second Alley of Martyrs.

Then an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance was held in the Constitutional Court.

At the beginning of the event, held with the participation of judges of the Constitutional Court and responsible employees of the Court’s Administrative Office, a minute of silence honored the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev, who spoke at the event, stressed that as a sign of deep respect for our soldiers and officers, to all the martyrs who fought heroically in the Patriotic War, who raised the flag of Azerbaijan on our lands liberated from occupation, those who gave their lives in the name of the territorial integrity of our country, according to the Order of President Ilham Aliyev, annually September 27 is celebrated in the Republic of Azerbaijan as Day of Remembrance.

The Chairman brought to attention that on September 27, 2020, in response to another military provocation of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia against our country, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, having undertaken decisive counter-offensive operations, liberated our territories from almost 30 years of occupation.

The Chairman stressed that the Patriotic War is our glorious history, martyrs and war veterans are the source of our pride. Our soldiers and officers, who showed heroism in the struggle for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our republic, our civilians who worked in the rear, and our people, united as an iron fist around our head of state Ilham Aliyev, demonstrating unity and solidarity, inflicted crushing blows on the enemy.

As a result of military operations carried out under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our valiant army, equipped with modern weapons, liberated about 300 settlements in 44 days, including 5 cities and 4 villages, a number of strategic heights. The military successes of the Azerbaijan army determined the result of the war and put an end to many years of occupation. On November 10, 2020, a trilateral Statement was signed confirming the Victory of Azerbaijan.

In his speech, Chairman said that the victorious Azerbaijani army is among the strongest armies in the world. As a result of the policy of army construction laid down by the great leader Heydar Aliyev and subsequently successfully implemented by President Ilham Aliyev, our Armed Forces are equipped with the most modern weapons and military equipment. The Azerbaijani army, both in military equipment and in manpower, is several times superior to the enemy's army, it has proved its strength and power, freeing our lands from enemy occupation in a just struggle for territorial integrity.

Farhad Abdullayev noted that the enemy, who could not stand the victorious procession of the valiant Azerbaijani army, resorted to provocations, fired at a number of cities and regions, settlements of the republic with the use of ballistic missiles and heavy artillery, committed war crimes, targeting innocent civilians, stressed the importance that the organizers of these bloody crimes suffered deserved punishment. It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev during his speech in video format at the annual general debate of the 76^th session of the UN General Assembly emphasized that Azerbaijan itself ensured the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.

It was noted that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev always shows high respect for the memory of our martyrs who fell for their homeland, pays special attention to the issue of perpetuating their memory, as well as the treatment and rehabilitation of our war veterans. On December 8, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree on the creation of the YAŞAT, a fund to support the provision of the wounded in connection with the protection of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the families of the martyrs. This, in turn, made it possible to support the improvement of the social situation of the families of the martyrs, war veterans and participants of the Karabakh war. In our republic, military personnel, families of martyrs, war veterans always have high attention and constant concern from both the state and the people, their social needs are met, and improving their well-being is one of the priorities of the state policy implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the head of our state signed a number of decrees and orders, implemented effective measures.

The Chairman noted that the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva also pays special attention to perpetuating the memory of our martyrs, providing comprehensive care for the families of martyrs and war veterans. Under the leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation carries out large-scale events in this direction, special sensitivity, care and mercy are manifested in relation to the families of martyrs and war veterans, and the solution of their problems is always in the spotlight.

During the speech, it was said that today in the territories liberated thanks to the brilliant Victory in the Patriotic War, large-scale restoration and creative work is being carried out, important projects are being implemented. The head of state lays the foundations of strategic facilities and enterprises in these territories, keeps the focus on the expansion of construction work, the introduction of high technologies. These construction and creative works, the rapid restoration of our cities and villages demonstrate the strength of Azerbaijan to the whole world.

It was also noted that the great Victory of our valiant army, which inflicted crushing blows on the enemy under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, will always occupy a special place in the history of Azerbaijan. The 44-day Patriotic War put an end to the aggressor policy of Armenia and taught the enemy a historical lesson that it will never forget. Due to the unprecedented courage of our heroic servicemen, at the cost of the blood of our martyrs, the whole world witnessed the glorious Victory of Azerbaijan.

The Chairman noted that Armenia has become a dead-end state of the modern system of international relations. The fact that despite the calls of President Ilham Aliyev for peace in the region, official Yerevan supports the spirit of revanchism in Armenia, should contribute to an increase in the number of partner countries of Azerbaijan, acting on the basis of honest positions and norms of international law. The international community must make a choice between Azerbaijan, calling for peace and progress, and Armenia, creating the ground for international terrorism and new conflicts, as well as spreading nationalism.

It was brought to the attention that 80 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan became martyrs while preventing a large-scale provocation by the Armenian armed forces on the Dashkesan, Kalbajar, Lachin and Zangilan directions of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border on the night of September 12-13. However, the blood of our martyrs did not remain inexhaustible. The Azerbaijani army gave a decisive response to the enemy in order to protect our territorial integrity. The events that took place on September 13 are a direct politically motivated military provocation. Incidents and provocations of Armenia strengthen the atmosphere of solidarity in our country. The Azerbaijani people show genuine unity to preserve political stability in the country.

Another aggression of the Armenian side against Azerbaijan is a gross violation of the fundamental norms and principles of international law, as well as the provisions of trilateral statements signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, and the agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia. These steps of Armenia are completely contrary to the ongoing process of normalization and peace. While the Azerbaijani state is carrying out large-scale reconstruction and construction work in its territories liberated from occupation, Armenia, admitting aggression, once again showed that it impedes this process in every possible way.

The Chairman also noted that, despite the fact that almost two years have passed since the end of the war and our brilliant Victory, civilians continue to die in peaceful conditions, since the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan were mined by the Armenian armed forces in order to prevent the return of Azerbaijani citizens forcibly expelled from their native lands.

In conclusion, Farhad Abdullayev expressed confidence that the heroism of the servicemen who became martyrs on the way to protect the territorial integrity and liberate our lands from occupation will always be an example for our people and future generations. The Chairman noted that he admires the memory of our soldiers and officers who died as a result of the last provocation of the enemy, who gave their lives in the name of protecting their native land and preventing new aggressive plans of the enemy, brave sons who love their homeland, who remained faithful to their state, fulfilling their duties at a high level, wished patience to their relatives. F. Abdullayev said that every Azerbaijani is proud of the Martyrs.

In addition, instructions were given to implement a sensitive approach to the families of the martyrs, disabled people of the Karabakh war and their families, to show high attention and care for them, it was once again brought to the attention that providing them with the necessary legal assistance during their appeal to the courts and assistance in resolving issues of concern to them should remain a priority.
