July 14 is the 23th anniversary of the establishment of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Established by the initiative of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, the Constitutional Court started its activity on July 14, 1998.

In this regard, judges and responsible employees of Constitutional Court, due to the pandemic in limited numbers, headed by the Chairman of Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev, visited the Alley of Honors, where they honored with respect the memory of the national leader of our people Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers at his grave.

Then, an event was held in the Constitutional Court with the participation of judges and responsible employees, observing the rules of a special quarantine regime.

Chairman of Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev, who spoke at the event, spoke about the creation and activities of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Chairman noted that in 1993, after the return of the great leader Heydar Aliyev to the leadership in the country, where was a fundamental change in legal, socio-political, social, economic, scientific and cultural life, as well as in international relations of the State, was laid the foundation for the process of independent State-building.

It was emphasized that the first Constitution of Azerbaijan, prepared and adopted under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, being the guarantor of human and civil rights and freedoms, laid the foundation for the construction of a legal State and civil society in our country. The Basic Law declaring the unity, inviolability and indivisibility of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan reflects a number of advanced and democratic principles and values.

The Chairman stressed that the historic Victory for the restoration of the territorial Integrity of Azerbaijan, enshrined in the Constitution, achieved under the leadership of Head of State Ilham Aliyev, brings pride to each of us, inspires us to work even more diligently.

It was noted that, with the end of almost 30 years occupation, the rule of international law had been ensured. Despite the fact that the Armenian side ignored the resolutions adopted in 1993 by the UN Security Council on the immediate withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the valiant Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the victorious Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, showing courage during the 44-day Patriotic War, restored the territorial integrity of our country. The liberation of the lands of our Motherland from the occupation of the armed forces of Armenia served to ensure a number of fundamental human rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of our country and in a number of international legal treaties.

It was stressed that thanks to the focused activities of the President Ilham Aliyev, today our country has great authority in the international arena, it is recognized as a reliable partner and a modern State that constantly respects international legal principles. In recent years, our country has been very successful in hosting numerous international political, cultural and sporting events, which is a clear indicator of the confidence placed in Azerbaijan at the international level.

Summing up the event, Farhad Abdullayev noted that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, supporting the progressive activities carried out by the President Ilham Aliyev to protect human rights and freedoms, the provisions of Constitution, which is the Basic Law of independent Azerbaijan, as well as the strengthening of an independent State, improving the material and spiritual well-being of our people, has always strived and will continue to strive with dignity to fulfill the tasks assigned to it.

At the end of the event, the winner of the competition held in connection with the creation of the new emblem of Constitutional Court was announced.
