STATEMENT
OF THE
CONSTITUTIONAL COURT
OF THE
REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
As a
result of a mine explosion on June 4, on the road of Susuzlug village of
Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan, two professional journalists - employees of the
Azerbaijan Television and the Azerbaijan State News Agency, as well as one public
employee were killed and four persons were injured.
Since
the end of military operations, more than 140 people have fallen victim to
landmines planted by Armenian occupiers in liberated areas. 27 of them died.
Responsibility
for the death of innocent people lies fully on the military and political
leadership of Armenia.
Despite numerous appeals of the Azerbaijani side
as to provision of landmine maps, the Armenian governance refuses to submit
them and thus, continues to grossly violate the international norms and
international obligations, such as the right to life, the right to free
movement, the right to live in safety, and other fundamental rights enshrined
in international legal instruments.
In
this connection, the international community should take appropriate measures
and force the military and political leadership of Armenia to provide the maps
of landmines.
The
principle of justice, which is one of the most important foundations of
international law, must be ensured by the entire international community in
order to protect the human rights and freedoms.
