2012-11-13 Azerbaijan, Bulgaria discuss judicial cooperation

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev has today met Lasar Gruev, President of Bulgarian Supreme Court of Cassation, to discuss cooperation between the two countries` judicial authorities.

Abdullayev highlighted the Constitutional Court`s activities. He said the Court attached great importance to expanding its relations with foreign counterparts, including Bulgaria`s Constitutional Court.

He said the Court placed emphasis on the practice of European Court of Human Rights in its work.

Abdullayev said Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court was a full member of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts.

He noted that Lasar Gruev`s visit would open new opportunities for further expansion of the cooperation between the two countries`s judicial authorities.

The Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court said the signing of bilateral cooperation memorandums this July during the visit of Evgeny Tanchev, head of Bulgaria`s Constitutional Court, built a legal framework for a new stage in development of relations between the two countries` judicial authorities.

Gruev said Bulgaria attached great importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court.
